ABOUT ME

Hi! I’m Seun Adediran, a recent Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences graduate from the University of Chicago. I had a focus in Science Communication and am working towards a career as an Obstetrician Gynecologist, so everything I take on is a move in that direction!

I have some experience working in the administrative side of healthcare, and am looking for the next position where I can apply my skills and gain even more valuable experience with direct patient care.

In my free time, I love to sew, and if you’re interested in that, I have a bit more information on that in the Personal tab at the top of the page!

Shadowing Experience

From March to May of this year, I shadowed Dr. Taiwo Durowade, FACOG at her practice Dardur Medical Group for over 100 hours! It was an amazing experience and has cemented my love for this specialty.

I was able to observe and assist with taking vitals and numerous annual exams that included routine physical exams for heart, lung, breast, abdomen, and pelvis. As needed, pap smears or swabs were also collected for testing. I also observed and assisted with multiple procedures including colposcopies, vaginal ultrasounds, FemiLift laser treatments, HRT pellet placements, hysteroscopies, uterine biopsies, and cervical biopsies.

I’ve seen a wide breadth of gynecology in such a short time, with a special focus on menopausal symptoms, and am confident I can apply these new experiences in the future!

Activities

rcln — current

rcln is a young adult ministry that I am very involved in. As a part of the planning, design, and execution team, we have designed and produced multiple pieces of apparel for sale to fund this ministry. Since 2024, we have also created the tent, which is a worship experience that has now held multiple events across two countries.

Bible Church of Reconciliation (BCOR) — current

During weekday and Sunday services at BCOR, I help watch some of the younger children when their parents are working during service. At larger events during the month and year, I also help with the coordination and serving of food to attendees. Once a year, BCOR has a convention and I help with the hospitality services for visiting guests and ministers. This included the coordination of travel plans, food deliveries, and welcome events for these individuals.

Northwestern Medicine Palos Hospital — current

As an independent sewer, I give back by making teddy bears that are given to pediatric patients that come into the hospital. These bears provide them with some comfort and something positive to tie to what may be an unpleasant experience. I get to apply a hobby that I love to a cause that brings smiles to the faces of many kids!

Volunteer Illini Projects (VIP) — 2020 to 2023

As the Alumni Relations Chair, I designed and published bi-annual alumni newsletters that documented the growth and success of VIP each semester. I also overhauled the previous record-keeping methods and created a more streamlined process to ease the process of adding new alumni to the system. I led weekly work hours with two project directors to mentor them in the planning and execution of various events. As the Environmental Project Director, I hosted at least two environmental and sustainability focused volunteer opportunities for students each month. I also collaborated with other university organizations and community partners for multiple events.
